Medicare rates are not enough. Hospitals lose money on Medicare patients. When I was in private practice, we would not have been able to stay in business if all insurers paid Medicare rates. The thing is that, our spending is not sustainable. It will eat up more and more of our GDP. That said, I AM TOTALLY AGAINST putting the savings on the backs of doctors and nurses.
